overnight oats with chia seeds recipe in mason jar

Overnight Oats With Chia Seeds

Overnight oats with chia seeds are a simple no-cook breakfast made by soaking rolled oats, milk, and chia seeds overnight. The oats soften while the chia seeds absorb liquid and create a thick, creamy texture similar to pudding. This easy recipe is perfect for meal prep and busy mornings.

Equipment

  • mason jar or container with lid
  • – Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk (any type)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  • Add rolled oats to a jar or container.
  • Pour in the milk.
  • Add chia seeds and stir well.
  • Add Greek yogurt if using for extra creaminess.
  • Mix in honey or maple syrup.
  • Stir everything together until well combined.
  • Cover the jar and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight until thick and creamy.
  • Stir the oats in the morning and add fruit or toppings before serving.

Notes

Rolled oats provide the best texture for overnight oats. Stir the mixture well so the chia seeds distribute evenly and do not settle at the bottom. If the oats become too thick in the morning, add a small splash of milk and stir. These oats can be eaten cold or warmed briefly in the microwave.
