Equipment

  • 1 Grater For grating fresh ginger
  • 1 Kettle or pot To heat water
  • 1 Mug or cup For serving the drink
  • 1 Fine strainer Optional, to remove solids

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger Grated; peeled before grating
  • 1 cup Hot water Not boiling just off the boil
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice Fresh-squeezed preferred
  • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper Optional; or substitute with cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Raw honey Optional; for mild sweetness

Instructions

  • Grate the Ginger:
  • Grate 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger into a cup.
  • Steep in Hot Water:
  • Pour hot (not boiling) water over the ginger. Let it steep for 5–10 minutes.
  • Strain (Optional):
  • Use a fine mesh strainer to remove ginger solids if you prefer a smooth drink.
  • Add Lemon and Spice:
  • Stir in lemon juice and cayenne pepper (or cinnamon).
  • Sweeten Gently:
  • Add honey if desired. Stir well and sip warm.

Notes

Drink this on an empty stomach in the morning for best fat-burning effects.
You can substitute cayenne with cinnamon if you’re sensitive to spice.
For a milder version, steep less ginger or increase the resting time before drinking.
Optional add-ons: splash of apple cider vinegar or mint for extra benefits.
